Drei Privatfahrer nahmen 1955 die Mille Miglia auf DKW in Angriff, darunter auch der abgebildete DKW Sonderklasse-Pilot Jehle. Alle erreichten wohlbehalten das Ziel, Jehles Markenkollege Spiliotakes sicherte sich sogar den Klassensieg bis 1000 ccm.

Ein Neuer in der Runde

Heute stellen wir ein neues Mitglied aus unserer Runde vor: Harald S. vom Bodensee.

Er hat sich seinen Kindheitstraum erfüllt und das Auto seiner Eltern gekauft, eine Opel Olympia Cabrio Limousine.

Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg musste Opel zuerst mal Lieferwagen produzieren. Die Besatzungsmächte erlaubten die Herstellung von Personenwagen erst nach einigem Zögern. Die ersten PWs waren dann im wesentlichen neu aufgelegte Vorkriegsmodelle, die genauso karg daherkamen wie vor dem Krieg. 1950 aber erschien der neu gestylte Olympia – als zweitürige Limousine, als Kombi/Lieferwagen und als schicke Cabrio-Limousine (wie die Cabriolets bei Opel damals genannt wurden). Neben der neuen Karosserie mit dem breiten Chromgrill bekam der 1950er Olympia eine moderne "Getriebefernschaltung" – das, was man heute Lenkradschaltung nennen würde.
